Walt and Mickey
Oil Painting of Iconic Statue at Disneyland
Cari and I are big Disney fans. Therefore, it is no surprise that I had to paint the Walt and Mickey statue at least once. This painting is done from a photograph Cari took after Disneyland Park closed. It’s a rare opportunity to get a glimpse of the castle and the statue with no one within the camera shot. I used only palette knife and a lot of oil paint to gradually build up texture on the canvas surface. The statue and flower bed in the foreground have more texture than the background objects giving the painting a sense of depth using both texture and color.
